Mr. Andres B. Sta. Maria is a consultant of Asian Insights, Inc. and of counsel to InsightsLaw & Company (formerly Tam-Yap & Ilao). Until his retirement in September 2013, Mr. Sta. Maria was Senior Partner of the law firm of SyCip Salazar Hernandez &Gatmaitan. For 25 years prior to his retirement, he headed the firm’s Special Projects Group and was responsible for the firm’s project and transactional work, including mergers & acquisitions, energy, infrastructure, construction, mining, telecommunications, and transportation. His area of practice includes acquisitions, energy, infrastructure, and wealth management. He was a pioneer in the private-power generation industry and acted for the developers of several of the largest power stations in the Philippines.
Mr. Sta. Maria is listed in the International Financial Law Review 1000 as one of the world’s leading lawyers, and in Who’s Who Legal (Law Business Research U.K.) as one of the world’s pre-eminent project finance lawyers and also one of the world’s pre-eminent public procurement lawyers. In Asia Law & Practice (Asia Law Leading Lawyers Survey), he was hailed as among Asia’s leading business lawyers (Banking, Infrastructure, Energy, Investments, M&A, and Natural Resources).
